Of making a doubled contract.
Bridge, much like politics is a dueced tricky game; the aim is. of course to score the most points and take the most tricks; for example:-
"If you are fortunate enough to make a doubled contract, your trick score is doubled, and you get a special bonus of 50 points (above the line)."
Aye, the fool struggles to sort the sheep from the goats; and, shine a light into what was (IMO) a brilliant example of how the game of politics is played, by clever folk who 'understand' what they are about.
"The truth appears so naked on my side, That any purblind eye may find it out."
It took about half a dozen views of the Price speech for my purblind eye to spot the 'deeper' game afoot. For it was a well thought out, clever strategy which robbed Wong of victory and shamed her to boot. It was, indeed, a shameful, arrogant act. Now, the Aunt Pru crew have watched hundreds of hours of 'video' from Senate Estimates and learned to eventually spot the 'set plays' - (story for another day).
Now watch the video again, carefully. The inutile 'Ley' gives the nod behind the cameras; Hanson takes the first part, then Cash 'nod's and Price is up to bat. Then, watch the Wong; it picks up a pen and begins to write, seemingly only paying scant attention to the slow start made by Price. Complete indifference to the Price words while she writes. BUT this is not a shopping list being written; it is a fraud, a carefully scripted put down, obviously previously prepared and to be delivered 'dead-pan' to put Price back in her place.. And, so it was, in a dull monotone, as if dismissing the febrile wanderings of a child's over imaginative mind. That now infamous Wong attitude and words will long haunt this government, hopefully all the way to the next election, it simply ain't Australian, but the backlash is. The Cash response came (in hindsight) as no surprise.
The ladies played a clever, prepared hand to expose Wong and won; in Spades, redoubled. Well played the back-room crew and nicely done Ladies.
Toot - toot....
